Katsura Imperial Villa and Gardens, Kyoto, Japan                       

Model and plinth commissioned for the opening of the Ivy Wu Gallery at the Royal Museum
of Scotland. Katsura evolved in the 17th Century as a retreat for Princess Toshihito and Noritada. The tea ceremony was very important and the gardens feature tea houses in carefully arranged settings to be viewed from the many paths and stepping stones.
